What is your sustainability or positive impact statement?
We centre our sustainability and positive impact efforts around three core pillars: ethical sourcing, eco-friendly operations, and deep community investment.
1. Supply Chain Transparency & Ethical Sourcing
Extraction places immense value on knowing exactly where our coffee comes from. We partner with green bean importers who demonstrate a shared passion for integrity and transparency. By maintaining a clear line of sight from the farmer to the importer, we ensure that the specialty grade beans we roast are ethically grown, and that farmers are compensated fairly for their craft.
2. Mindful, Low-Waste Operations
Our commitment to the environment shows in how we run our kitchen:
We make 98% of our food entirely in-house (including breads, hash browns, relishes, preserves and sauces). We have a very low wastage margin but utilising whole ingredients, keeping our menu small and carefully managing packaging including recycling.
3. Cultivating Community Connection
For Extraction, positive impact is just as much about social sustainability.
We function as a local hub by:
Actively mentoring emerging hospitality talent.
Fostering an inclusive environment (being recognised as a "Safe Space" in Logan.
Pouring economic support back into the local community organisations.
Working with Logan schools to create their own thriving cafes.
Do you sell your coffee beans?
Yes, we do. We sell coffee beans on the retail shelf in the cafe or you can purchase them online here.
We also sell wholesale coffee to boutique cafes and restaurants. For more information check out our roastery website at www.extractioncoffeeroasters.com.au
