Since opening our doors in 2016, Extraction Artisan Coffee has been driven by a love for exceptional produce and the passionate people behind it. Few suppliers have embodied that spirit more than Beenleigh Butchery. Their traditional wood-smoked bacon has been a staple on our menu since day one, and it’s hard to imagine a Saturday morning without the unmistakable aroma of their bacon sizzling away in our kitchen.
For those who don’t know, Beenleigh Butchery has been serving the local community since 1898 — that's over 125 years of history, tradition, and dedication to quality. Their bacon and hams have become legendary across Queensland, known for their full-flavoured, lovingly handcrafted approach using only Australian pork and carefully selected hardwoods for smoking. It’s a time-honoured process that takes days to perfect — and you can taste the difference in every bite.
Sadly, this chapter is coming to a close. Due to the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, the Butchery’s premises on George Street in Beenleigh are being resumed. After much reflection, the owners have made the difficult decision not to relocate, choosing instead to take a well-deserved step back after nearly two decades at the helm.
We want to take a moment to publicly thank Beenleigh Butchery for their unwavering support of small, local businesses like ours. Their bacon has been more than just an ingredient — it’s been part of the fabric of Extraction, a delicious reminder of the artisan food community that surrounds us. Their commitment to quality and tradition is something we have been proud to showcase on every plate we’ve served.
While we’re currently “auditioning” new bacon suppliers (and yes, they have some big shoes to fill!), we know the unique flavour and craftsmanship of Beenleigh Butchery's products will be hard to replace.
To the team at Beenleigh Butchery — congratulations on your incredible legacy. You’ve left an indelible mark not only on our café, but on countless homes, restaurants, and communities across Queensland. We will miss your bacon dearly, but more than that, we’ll miss the people behind it.
